Cristiana Fiamingo is a lecturer in the Department of International, Legal and Historical-Political Studies and teaches two courses, respectively: “Africa: History, Institutions and Global Challenges” in the triennal degree program (BA) in International Sciences and European Institutions (SIE), and “History and Politics of Sub-Saharan Africa” in the master’s degree program (MA) in International Relations (REL). She is also the coordinator of the Workshop “Sustainability and Sustainable Development”, a university-wide transversal competence and skills program that has been running since 2019 and will continue until the completion of the 2030 Agenda. She conducts field research in Southern Africa and focuses on the management of history and memory, land relations in post-conflict contexts, and the comparative study of systems of coloniality and decoloniality as experienced in that region, in Africa, and elsewhere. She is also interested in Western reinterpretations of these phenomena and of their own relationships with the region and with Africa more broadly. She is Deputy Editor of the journal “NAD: New Authoritarianisms and Democracies” and a member of the editorial board of the journal “afriche e orienti”.
