Vincenzo Russo

Vincenzo Russo is Full Professor of Portuguese and Brazilian and African Literature at the University Statale of Milano. Since 2018, he has been director of the António Lobo Antunes Chair (Camões Institute of Lisbon – Unimi). Among his monographs: Tenebre Bianche. Immaginari coloniali fin- de-siècle (2008); Suspeita do Avesso. Barroco e Neo-Barroco na Poesia Portuguesa Contemporânea (2008); La Letteratura Portoghese. I testi e le idee with Roberto Vecchi (2017), La Resistenza continua. Il colonialismo portoghese, le lotte di liberazione e gli intellettuali italiani (2020). The latter two volumes were also published in Portuguese in 2022. He translated and edited the Italian editions of several Portuguese, Brazilian and African authors writing in Portuguese (Fernando Pessoa, Eduardo Lourenço, António Ramos Rosa, Eça de Queirós, Lima Barreto, Vergílio Ferreira, Bocage, Pepetela, João Paulo Borges Coelho, Boaventura de Sousa Santos). In 2023, he organised with Elisa Alberani and Miguel Cardina the volume and exhibition Revoluções. Guiné-Bissau, Angola, Portugal (1969-1974) with photos by Uliano Lucas, which was exhibited in Lisbon, Coimbra and Brasilia.
