Stefano Allovio is full professor of cultural anthropology at the Department of Philosophy, University of Milan. He is a member of the board of Classis Africana of the Accademia Ambrosiana. He has carried out numerous ethnographic studies in Africa (Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, and South Africa). His main interests include alliance systems in contemporary Central and Southern Africa and the symbolic aspects associated with pre-colonial political systems in Equatorial Africa.
